The Dominican Republic Was a Great Destination For My Family

The Caribbean is a wonderful destination to relax soak up the sun and stroll in the sea. The Dominican Republic can be a wonderful destination for families to relax and experience adventures you may not anywhere else.

Many resorts offer a plethora of onsite activities for the family, with swimming pools, kids clubs, plenty of onsite entertainment and activities for children to do. However, if you want to venture away from the pool, consider some of the tours that can pick you and your family up at the resort and drop you back at the end of the day. For older children and families…

Punta Cana has stacks of activities and adventures for older children to enjoy with their parents. Think about a Zipline Canopy Adventure, with 8 lines and treetop towers, tear down the ziplines experiencing the views and nature of the lush Dominican Republic forest. Children from five years old can experience this birds-eye view adventure.

Heights not everyone’s thing? Then how about a driving tour of the beaches and forests of Punta Cana on a Cap Cana Adventure Buggy. Each buggy sits tow people and the driver needs to be aged sixteen or over. At your own pace and enjoy the experience of the different terrains, experiencing all aspects of the Caribbean nature and wildlife, it has the potential to be a muddy trip so old clothes and a bathing costume is advised.

For the water babies head to Macao Beach and take some surf lessons. Enjoy the chance to surf in crystal clear Caribbean waters, where children aged six upwards can enjoy lessons. No matter how novice or experienced you are there is always something to learn and where better than the swells of the Caribbean sea.

Younger adventures and fun for the whole family

Getting in touch with wildlife and marine life is a perfect activity to enjoy in Punta Cana. Grab a camera and enjoy the Marinarium Snorkeling Cruise. Travel on a glass bottomed boat and enjoy the underwater sights of brightly colored fish and marine life.

Head out to the reefs, snorkel with sting-rays and nurse sharks. All ages are welcome on this tour. Take a lifetime opportunity to swim with dolphins. Under eights can enjoy the opportunity in the company of an adult. This is a favorite Punta Cana activity for families with kids of all ages. Enjoy a swashbuckling adventure at Shark Island aboard a 16th century replica galleon ship. Stay for the Caribbean Buccaneers Dinner Show and watch and dance pirate battle scenes, maybe even take part in the show.

Something different…

The Dominican Republic themed Manati park has animal attractions such as sea lion shows. The Taino village is an opportunity to learn about the culture, art, local dances and more. A simple day hunting for shells, packing the bucket and spade, is the best family activity in Punta Cana and with some of the best beaches in the Dominican Republic it is an activity not to be missed.

Head to school! Hire a taxi for a day, pack some supplies from home such as pens, pencils, arts and crafts materials and take the children to a local school and see what local life is all about, generating unique memories for you and the family.
